Managing Partner
Bernard A. Poirier
is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner for
Parmelee, Poirier & Associates, LLP. He brings to the table a world of experience in
corporate and individual tax matters, financial
management and consulting, and municipal
accounting.
In his nearly
30-year career as a Certified Public Accountant,
Bernie has gained experience spanning all phases
of business and government applications in
consulting. His business clients have included
companies with sales bases of $30,000 to $150
million. He has also performed extremely
specialized consulting work, including
efficiency audits for school systems, valuations
for business entities, and testimonial and
litigation services. Bernie
tailors his approach to suit the individual
situation of each and every client.
Bernie received his
bachelor's degree from the University of
Massachusetts (Amherst), and holds a Masters of
Science in Taxation from Bryant University in
Smithfield, RI. He has lectured at various
professional and academic institutions, and
maintains affiliations with the AICPA and the
RISPCA. In addition to his role as managing
partner, Bernie also serves as Treasurer for
Valley Country Club in West Warwick, RI.

Partner
John A. Parmelee has had a long
and distinguished career in public accounting. Originally a
member of the Audit Staff of the national firm Ernst &
Ernst, he earned his CPA certification in 1968. In
1974, John founded the first of the several accounting firms
he has owned or co-owned. In 1994 he co-founded Parmelee,
Poirier & Associates LLP with managing partner Bernard A.
Poirier.
John's areas of concentration
include auditing, consulting, and income tax services for a
wide variety clients, including SEC registered companies,
municipalities, and private companies. Over the course of
his career, he has been licensed as a CPA in 7 states
(including Rhode Island), and has been a member of several
professional organizations including the GFOA, where he
served as a Reviewer in the Certificate of Achievement for
Reporting Excellence Program and the Distinguished Budget
Reporting Program.
In addition to his accounting
experience, John has served in corporate officer and Board
of Directors positions for several organizations and
companies. He has participated in the fight against
communism in Eastern European countries as an officer and
director of the non-profit
organization, Atlantic Research and Publications. He was
awarded a Knighthood by the Prime Minister of Hungary for
his efforts on behalf of that nation.

Partner
William J. Baxter has nearly
three decades of experience in public and corporate
accounting. He joined Parmelee, Poirier & Associates
LLP as an Associate Accountant in 1994, and become a Partner in
2003.
Over the course of his career,
Billy has served in senior and management positions for a
wide variety of private corporations, including a
transportation company, a major publishing house, and a
clothing manufacturing and import company, as well as in
public accounting positions. His diverse experience and
in-depth knowledge of corporate accounting methodology makes
him a trusted ally for business clients. He also offers
personal tax planning, tax preparation, and financial
consulting services.
Billy graduated from the
University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor's of Science in
Taxation, and has completed Masters of Science in Taxation
coursework at Bryant College in Smithfield, RI.

Partner, Senior Audit
Manager
Paul L. Dansereau brings to the
table twelve years of experience in Public Accounting and
over fifteen years of experience in corporate accounting and
management.
As Senior Audit Manager, Paul is
responsible for managing audit and review proceedings for
clients across a variety of industries, including municipal
and not-for-profit entities. He has assisted various
entities in the performance of internal control reviews, and
conducted evaluations of those clients' existing controls
resulting in recommendations for improvement. Paul also
maintains a tax practice where he provides income tax
preparation, tax planning and bookkeeping services for a
wide variety of clients.
Paul received a Bachelor's of
Arts in Economics from the University of Rhode Island, and a
Bachelor's of Science in Accounting from Bryant University.
He is licensed as a CPA in Rhode Island and Massachusetts,
and is a member of the AICPA.
